I am the Provincial Coordinator for SET-BC. We are a Ministry of Education Provincial Outreach Program that supports the use of technology for students with diverse and significant learning needs across the province of British Columbia. Previous to this appointment, I had been an elementary school Principal at three different schools for the past 6-1/2 years. Prior to that, a Vice-Principal for another 6 years. Twenty years in total as an educator with the Vancouver School Board. All with a wide range of experiences that I continue to take with me today. The best part of those assignments were the relationships I formed along the way and the excitement of introducing new ideas to both the experienced and new teachers. I have an outstanding wife of over 18 years, a Kindergarten teacher also in Vancouver, and two children of 17 and 15 years old, Kyle and Zoie. These are two of the reasons why I have such a vested interest in ensuring students in my schools are allowed to be creative and inspired to learn. Ironically, I'm so involved with teaching technology at my schools, that my own children are aware, but not fully wired in at home. Their time will come I assume. Many times they ask me things and I just tell them to go and look it up themselves - which they can do. Constructivism at both home and work.
