About Me
This is my 9th and final course of the Masters of Educational Technology Program at the University of British Columbia. This ends my formal 2-1/2 years of finding out what there is in the field of educational technology. Why I say formal, is because I don't see my learning actually ending at this point - it has only begun. I will continue to look for what's new in technology and how I can apply it to the staff and students at the schools I work at. This has been an amazing journey!
I have been an elementary school Principal in Vancouver for just over a year and prior to that a Vice-Principal for six years. In fact I have only been in the school system for 15 years. Things moved relatively quickly for me, but I attribute that to hard work and being at the right place at the right time. I've been fortunate enough that my school experiences have been in every enrolling and non-enrolling positon from Kindergarten to Grade 5. This includes a PE teacher, ESL and Learning Assistance teacher, and Librarian. I really feel I have an understanding of what each of the staff members has to go through in working with the students in many fo the areas. This makes it easier when it comes to sharing resources such as the tools I have discovered online over the past 4 years.
My main role in the schools I work with has been to introduce and support 21st Century learning with the staff and students. This is not only technology, but challenge-based and project learning principles. The goal is make the students become better problem solvers and critical thinkers.
